Safety Center
We are committed to providing a secure environment, but safety requires partnership. Review these guidelines to protect yourself online and offline.
Protecting Yourself from Scams
Romance scams occur when a malicious actor adopts a fake online identity to gain affection and trust, ultimately to manipulate the victim for financial gain.
- Never send money: Do not wire money, send crypto, or provide gift cards to anyone you meet online, regardless of their story.
- Protect personal information: Keep your exact home address, workplace, and financial details strictly private.
- Stay on the platform: Scammers often try to move conversations to third-party apps quickly. Keep chatting on DateMora until you are entirely comfortable.
Spotting Fake Profiles
While we use human-reviewed moderation and automated tools to remove bad actors, some may occasionally slip through. Be vigilant if a match:
- Professes strong feelings immediately.
- Avoids video calls or meeting in person with constant excuses.
- Has a profile with only one overly professional or model-like photo.
- Provides stories that are inconsistent or heavily focused on financial hardship.
Meeting In Person Checklist
Taking your connection offline is exciting, but always prioritize your physical safety for the first few dates.
Meet in a public place
Choose a populated, well-lit public location for your first meeting. Never meet at your home or their home initially.
Tell a friend
Inform a trusted friend or family member about where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you plan to return.
Arrange your own transport
Drive yourself or use a ride-share app. Avoid letting your date pick you up or drop you off at your home.
Trust your instincts
If something feels off, or if your date makes you uncomfortable, leave immediately. You owe nobody your time if you feel unsafe.
